Wonderful for homemade cream to settle angry skin

I tried this a few nights with little effect. I also found that there wasn't much taste, even after steeping for the directed 10 minutes.

A nice tasting tea, albeit, a bit of a stinker.

Valerian Root has a reputation for being smelly. Kinda like stinky feet or smelly cheese. I have grown this plant in my yard and harvested and dried the root at home and this box of valerian root smells just like what I have harvested on my own. The taste after steeping it for 10 minutes isn’t as strong as the smell. And you can add other herbs to it if you would like. This does have a calming effect. You will need a zippered bag to store this in once opened.

If you are looking for a valerian tea, this is exactly it! This is loose leaf, organic valerian that works well as a sleep aid or for anxiety. The directions given on the box are easy to follow and accurate for valerian- don't brew this just like a regular tea if you are getting this for medicinal use!My only con on this is that the packaging isn't really great to use once the tea is opened. I would recommend pouring this into a different container and taking a picture of the directions for reference. The tea comes loose in a plastic bag that cannot be resealed and is difficult to open, making it easy to tear.Overall, this is a good option if you are looking for valerian. It tastes and acts as valerian should and comes with accurate brewing instructions.

The product is fresh: expiration is February 2026. The box and bag arrived intact and undamaged, however distinct valerian root odor is quite sensible through the sealed bag. I am familiar with valerian root, and it smells exactly like it should. The seller does not specify the content of valeric acid in the product. The QR code for more information is just a link to the online store. The root is potent. I use only half a teaspoon per 12-ounce mug along with lemon balm and chamomile tea; valerian enhances the sedative effect of these herbs. I have this tea an hour - 90 minutes before bedtime, and melatonin is no longer needed for better sleep.

I was not prepared for the smell. But I looked it up and it's supposed to smell like old cheese. But it definitely did help relax me. So that's a plus. I'm not that wild about the taste. But the relaxation was worth it. I'll try blending it with other teas next time.

I was surprised on how unpleasant the tea smelled since I had used bath oils with Valerian root and it smells great. Thankfully, the tea didn't have a strong taste. I had to decant the tea from the bag since the package wasn't resealable. The tea had a nice relaxing effect after a long day.

Pure valerian root. This is what it should smell and taste like. It's pungent and potent. Start out slowly if you haven't used it before, make the tea with 1/2 teaspoon at first and you might want to use your favorite sweetener with it as well. If you haven't used it before, try it on a night where you don't have to go anywhere or do anything the next day. Some people can get very groggy and dopey when using valerian.

Quite some time ago, my wife asked me to look into buying some valerian root supplements… and then I forgot to do so. When I saw this tea, I thought it would be a great way to give this supplement a try.The directions say that the flavor can be improved by using ginger and honey. However, I actually liked the flavor of the tea on its own. It’s like a mild chamomile. I will be forthcoming is saying this: I don’t like the scent. Preferences regarding taste and fragrance are, of course, subjective. I do like the scent of ginger. After I added some powdered ginger to the tea, I really liked it!Valerian root is known for its calming properties. I enjoy this tea as a nice hot beverage that, when ginger powder is added, adds some pleasant variety to the calming teas I typically drink. I think if you are looking to add valerian to your health supplement routine, this is a great way to take it. This organic product is “Packed in Australia from imported ingredients from selected countries.” After being doctored with some ginger powder, this product is definitely thumbs up for me!

The box I received was quite crushed but the inside of the bag was sealed and in perfect condition it does not come in a bag it's completely loose roots but if you've read up on the properties of valerian root you'll see the benefits of drinking it in tea form versus a pill so although the taste isn't the best in the world I like to add it with other types of teas that are little spicier with cinnamon and such to give it a really nice mixture of flavor

The listing and the pictures included purport a number of calming, relaxing, pain reducing and stress relieving benefits; I have experienced none of those.I expected the tea to have a strong taste and smell, based on reputation and some wording in the listing about adding ginger/lemon/etc. to improve the flavor, but I found mine to be very bland, even after a full 10 minute steep. The box is compostable, but the plastic bag the product comes in is not – neither is it re-sealable. I had to find a tiny clip to close it up. Planet Organic seems to make some decent products, but I wouldn’t put this tea at the top of their list.I’d give this 3.5 stars if that were an option, so I rounded up to be nice.

I’m so happy to find real valerian root here. It is the best remedy to help me to fall asleep. I’ve been buying the mass market teas with valerian root but it was not the same. This is the real stuff! It looks and smells just like my grandparents used to grow in their garden when I was a kid. I’m glad that it is certified organic as well. So easy to brew it, the directions are straightforward but you can always adjust it to your liking.

My first thought in smelling this was that it smelled like stinky socks or strong cheese, which I wasn't prepared for. After researching this further, I found out that this is what high quality, good Valerian root smells like. I made it into tea using 1 tsp to my cup and allowed too steep for 10 minutes and then strained out the roots. After steeping and straining, it smelled more earthy at this point. I didn't add any honey or ginger, which would most likely improve the flavor, but drinking it plain and it really wasn't that bad. I did find after a while that my neck wasn't as sore as it was, so would say that there is some muscle relaxing taking affect. I also experienced an overall pleasant relaxing feeling, which would be the anti-anxiety effect. I drank this during the day and was relaxed but not sleepy, but I could see how being a bit more relaxed would allow you to fall asleep easier at night. Overall, I liked this tea and will be trying it with some honey. Don't let the smell make you not want to try it.

This tea smells bad like a ripen cheese. I tried to make it drinkable by blending it with a peppermint tea and a lemon ginger tea but didn’t work for me. Anyway, the tea came in a cheap plastic bag not in a resealable bag which is pretty much the standard these days.

Sure does make for a good night's sleep!
