How does Planet Organic source our turmeric?
Are there heavy metals in turmeric?
Some turmeric can naturally be higher in heavy metals as it is a root, so depending on the environmental factors in which it's grown, the heavy metal levels can vary.
High amounts of lead and other heavy metals may be toxic when accumulating in your body over long periods of time. However, this is not something that is spoken about often or communicated on the packaging when you're wandering down the spice aisle in the supermarket.
Thats why Planet Organic independently get third-party testing on each batch of our turmeric to test for heavy metals such as lead, arsenic, cadmium, and mercury. We believe you deserve to know what's actually in your spices.

What is the curcumin content level and what is curcumin?
Curcumin is a naturally occurring compound in turmeric, giving turmeric its yellow pigment and is a renowned polyphenol researched for its broad spectrum of health properties.
Turmeric curcumin content can range anywhere from 1% to 4.9% being the highest grade, for a potent and rich turmeric powder.
Planet Organic's turmeric has a typical curcumin content of around 4.9%, delivering that vibrant golden colour and a naturally rich & beneficial profile. Our turmeric is sourced from a single origin, organically grown in India, through our trusted long-term suppliers who confirm each batch with a Certificate of Analysis (CoA).
Where is the turmeric processed and packed?
For the last 29 years, Planet Organic has continued to hand pack each tea, herb and spice from our family-run warehouse on the Sunshine Coast. Keeping manufacturing in Australia, providing local jobs and supporting our community is so important to us.
Plus, this process of hand packing and weighing each jar, allows us to continue to keep the highest quality assurance and provide you with the freshest product. No stale or mouldy spice jars, that were packed overseas many moons ago.
